Around twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing wind gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction

Homeowners reported giant hailstones as large as 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its wettest day in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At the height on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
