Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
